Since our wedding this summer, Vince and I have enjoyed a lot of togetherness time. A little too much, though. As we daily tripped over each other, got used to sharing a space, and tried to cram everything into our closet-sized rental home, discouragement set in and I began losing trust. We had bid on several homes and were outbid each time. We hardly talked of having kids (where would we keep them?), and we spent Sunday afternoons driving to potential homes, debating over which of the falling-apart rehabs we should buy.
God, I thought, you want us to have kids, right? You want us to stay in this area, don’t You? Why can’t we seem to buy a house?
Time was running out. The housing market rose, diminishing the number of houses in our price range. Our lease was ending with auto-renew looking likely. I knew I should trust God, but I dreaded another year in our rental.
But God knew what He was up to, and as He often does, He came through at the last possible moment.
Last Friday it happened!! God blessed us with the most incredibly, wonderfully, ridiculously ugly house…. With great potential. We are now the owners of a brick ranch on 5.5 acres of woods… Complete with orange shag carpet and avocado colored appliances. Yesssss!
God does miracles. He also has a sense of humor. Check out these pictures!!

And the stove. Classic is the word.
And here it is…. the reason we bought this house. About 5.5 acres of……

So exciting! I’m sure you’re going to love having your own space. I think every couple should have to start out in a tiny place so they’ll appreciate having a house. Not to mention, it gives you great stories to tell. Like “hey babe, remember the time the people upstairs were stomping around while I was studying for an exam and I muttered that I was going to kill them and you started to think I was serious?” lol. Okay, that one might be specific to me, but you get the idea. Congrats on the new place!

So is that your story or your hubby’s?? And no worries… the new house will definitely be appreciated. By both of us. 🙂

Lol, that was definitely me threatening to do away with the neighbors. I like silence.
